December 7th

Happy Wednesday! Today, we continued learning about holidays around the world with Brazil! We have two friends who have family members from Brazil, so we were excited to hear how Tommy and Elan knew some of the Portuguese words and Brazilian traditions that we learned about. Some friends were inspired to make observational drawings of our Ll words at the studio table and we played with sensory ice trays and play dough. We played in the gym on this rainy day and had a Hanukah-themed yoga class with Tara Rachel.

Jack O. is our Librarian. Thanks, Jack! Today we read The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever by Steven Kroll. Tommy is our Name Tag Helper–he put the names back on the board so we are ready for voting tomorrow. Thanks, Tommy!

Holidays Around the World: Brazil

Olá! The most celebrated winter holiday in Brazil is Christmas. Brazilians typically celebrate with a feast on Christmas Eve with traditional foods like turkey, panettone (sweet bread), and rabanada (dessert French Toast). Santa is called Papai Noel in Brazil, and he puts presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. Since Brazil is in the Southern Hemisphere, many Brazilians spend Christmas Day at the beach enjoying the summer heat!

Elan spun the globe to see what country we will research tomorrow. He landed on Nigeria! We can’t wait to learn about Nigerian culture and holiday traditions!
