Today, we practiced our butterfly greeting in Morning Meeting, our STAR Helper, Dusty, chose the pretzel breath, and our Well-Wisher, Evan, put absent friends on our wish well board to send our love! Our schedule helper was not here today, but our friend Wesley was willing to step in and update our schedule for playing on the back playscape and adding our yoga class to the schedule–thanks, Wesley!
At the end of meeting, friends get a picture card and when a teacher pulls the matching card out, that friend can go make a classroom choice. This helps us practice waiting and moving about safely. After meeting, our Seat Checker, Jack L, helped put the chairs at tables.
Classroom Explorations
Box decorating: Children were invited to decorate boxes that will be available to build with tomorrow during choice time.
Babies
Building with blocks, magnatiles, and lego
Studio
The studio stations are for creating expressive art with a wide variety of materials–our studio materials are on a self-service shelf with access on both sides to create at the table or at the easels. This is part of the Reggio Emilia concept of “the classroom as the third teacher” as friends know how to put items back where they belong by matching colors or objects. Our hallway display has been updated with some of the creations from this week!
